A little look into our boys reading group
We began our boys reading group by reading Mal and Chad by Stephen McCranie. The boys absolutely love it. This hilarious book is about a boy named Mal and his dog Chad and their many adventures! We were even honored to have a skype visit with the author, Stephen McCranie! It was AWESOME!
We have already begun thinking about our second book choice. We have some thoughts: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel by Jeff Kinney, Into the Trap by Craig Moodie, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Eric Shanower.
We chose The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Eric Shanower
We chose to read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Eric Shanower. This graphic novel is another version of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. We chose this book for three reasons 1. the graphic novel format, 2. the anticipated movie release of Oz the Great and Powerful, and 3. the boys were familiar with the Wizard of Oz from our school production in 2011. After we completed the book we went to see the new. It was so much fun and many times the boys whispered the connections they made with the book. Before we start our next book we will take some time to discuss and compare the book with the movie.
Into the Trap
We just started our third book, Into the Trap by Craig Moodie. This thriller is about a young boy named Eddie who just happens to find the stash of lobsters being stolen from the local fisherman. Georgetown being a big fishing community, we have a few ideas for activities to complement our reading! ;)
