Early Literacy Practices Caregivers Can Incorporate into Daily Routines with Children Under Age 3
On Thursday, September 16th, from 12 - 1PM, Laura Morton, Youth Education Specialist for Orange County Library System will introduce simple, early literacy practices that can be incorporated into everyday routines. Resources and accommodations available at libraries will also be discussed. Soren Richardson, a Parent Training Coordinator for the Parent Education Network and Rose Lumm, a Family Resource Specialist for Early Steps Central Florida, will host this enlightening webinar.

This is in support of the New Worlds Reading Initiative, which provides quality literacy resources to Florida families. This partnership offers every Florida family FREE access, through Dec. 31, 2021, to a comprehensive library of digital books for children 12 and under.

Soren Richardson
Soren is a Parent Training Coordinator for the Parent Education Network, a project under the Family Network on Disabilities (FND). Soren has completed Florida Partners in Policymaking and Pete’s Wrightslaw workshops. Soren has been involved with the public school system and IEPs for over 5 years and enjoys educating parents how to navigate the special education process. Soren lives in Central Florida with her husband and son Luke. Soren was born and raised in Aruba and speaks four languages (English, Spanish, Dutch and Papiamento)

Early Steps of Central Florida
Rose is a Family Resource Specialist for Early Steps of Central FL. She taught for Orange County Public Schools before coming to Early Steps. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and is a graduate of Partners in Policymaking through the FL Developmental Disabilities Council. She has served as a Board Member for UCP and the Spina Bifida Association of Central FL. Rose is active in the FL Family Leaders Network. Rose is the proud mother of twins plus one. Her son who lives with Spina Bifida was in Early Steps. Rose is honored to help empower Central FL families on their parenting journey.
