Meet Your New Principal, Mrs. Harp!
Hello Panthers!
I am VERY excited to be joining the Penngrove team! I believe strongly in our community schools as a place of support for students, staff and families and look forward to continuing this legacy at Penngrove. Our job as educators is to foster the development of our children into becoming contributing members of society; a multi-faceted and invaluable job. Academics, social-emotional, and extra-curricular opportunities are all key pieces to this growth. I believe all students can reach their full potential with the proper supports. I can't wait to meet you all!
~Mrs. Harp

GARDEN UPDATE WITH MS. ORTIZ
Students have been searching for lost ladybugs as well as setting out donated pollinator plants from the School Garden Network for our pollinator patch. We have been out in the field and garden this week collecting specimens to be photographed for the Lost Ladybug Project. If your student wants to continue this project from home check out lostladybug.org I hope your students are sharing all their ladybeetle knowledge with you!
Thank you all so much for supporting the Pop-up Plant sale it went really well and it was so nice to speak to all those who stopped by. We will be doing a final plant sale of the year on Friday, May 20th.
Please come and join us over the summer for three garden work days!! We will be doing a major overhaul on Monday, June 20th, Saturday, June 25th, and Wednesday, July 13th, from 10-3 and need your help. Come for part of the time or all day and lend a hand. This opportunity to upgrade our teaching garden is made possible by the Penngrove PTA and our community partners Grab N’ Grow and Harmony Farm supply. We will be creating a TK/K teaching garden and upgrading infrastructure for the whole student body. Bring your power tools and come be a part of this awesome opportunity to make our teaching garden better than ever.
We are offering an exciting way to sponsor the work going on over the summer! Help rebuild raised beds and create a new TK/K teaching garden area by being a Seed Sponsor for $100, Sprout Sponsor for $250, or a Grow sponsor for $400. Please see the flyer for more details about sponsor benefits and come visit me at the open house to become a sponsor or reach out through email. Big thanks to Shannon and Rick Sundberg for championing this amazing opportunity for our teaching garden to better serve the entire student body!
You can also contribute to the Garden Program by purchasing bulbs at http:// PenngroveGardenProgram.fpfundraising.com we will receive 50% of your purchase. This one goes until May15. I will be signing us up for Fall and Winter as well. Check out the website you will want to buy for yourself and your friends!
Looking for more ways to get involved? Come and volunteer! Reach out to me at aortiz@petk12.org for more details. You can volunteer with your kids class, at lunch time to allow kids to be in the garden during break times, or if you just want to get your hands dirty in the garden I will put you to work! Thank you so much to our parent volunteers!
