Student Spotlight

Ms. Read and Mrs. Malooley's buddies share friendship, faith and preparation for the future together.


1. Upcoming Faculty Meetings - Tuesday, Jan. 12, Feb. 2

Please know that EC/LD faculty and staff will meet in the Fortune Room on Tues., Jan. 12 at 3:35pm. Topics of discussion for Jan. 12 include: A) Meet New Horizons' Director Shanna Martin, B) Disabilities Awareness Week Preparation. On Tues., Feb. 2 (date change) LD faculty and staff (EC teachers and staff are welcome to attend) will meet with Carolyn Lausch in AmySue's classroom to begin curricular discussion focusing Language Arts Gr. 1-4.

2. Professional Development Grants - Thursday, Jan. 14

This is a friendly reminder that if you are seeking a PD opportunity totaling $500 or more, the committee will be reviewing the next round of grant applications on Thursday, Jan. 14. 3. Midterm Grades and Comments Schedule

4. Disabilities Awareness Week - Jan. 19-23

Many thanks to Suzann Hummer for planning and overseeing this year's Disabilities Awareness Week with the assistance of the Joseph Maley Foundation. Please refer to Suzann's Disabilities Awareness Week email for more information. This proves to be an inspiring and inspirational week. Additionally, please mark your calendar for Friday, Jan. 29 @ 8:10am for the culminating assembly as performed by DANCING WHEELS. ALL grades levels (PK-Gr. 8) are welcome and encouraged to attend. :)

5. Apple Pin Recipients - Tuesday, Jan. 19

The fourth unveiling of Grades 1-4 Apple Pin honors will take place after chapel service on Jan. 19. Therefore, please be sure to identify a student in your class who exhibits exemplary academic, civic and/or emotional performance in the classroom. Please print off and share your certificate to me by 6:00pm on Sunday, Jan. 17. CLICK HERE to download the Apple Pin certificate.

6. Spelling Bee - Friday, Jan. 22

Many thanks to Nick Stewart and Andrea Neal for overseeing this year's SRES Spelling Bee! All Gr. 4-8 students were given their appropriate grade level word lists prior to the holiday break; also available at by signing up for a free Word Club account. Debbi and Jessica, Nick will need names of your two classroom winners no later than January 14. Let's wish our super spellers lot of luck as they prepare for January 22 and hopefully beyond!

7. Race for the Cure

8. Yearbook Photos

Please know that MD yearbook members will be visiting classrooms within the coming days to capture candid photos of your students for the yearbook. Also, please make certain that your photo galleries are updated. Thank you!

9. Staff and Faculty Childcare Post and Pre Service

While speaking with Kathleen Milkey last week I learned that summer camp positions fill up quickly, especially during post service (week 1 of summer) and pre service (week 12 of summer). Therefore, CLICK HERE to register your cherubs early to secure childcare if you need it.

10. Student Enrollment 2016-2017

If you have heard from parents that they are considering not returning to SRES next year, please share this info with Abby and me so that we may begin anticipating student counts. Thank you!
