Polluting Plastic
Is Plastic Polluting?
Plastic is one of the most polluting things in the world. Don’t believe me well; ask yourself, do you have any plastic in your house? Or do you use plastic? 99.9% of the time you will say yes to these questions. It’s not that we use plastic it is that how dependent on plastic we are and how much we use it. We use enough plastic each year that we can circle the earth 4 times, and because of this it is obviously true that we use a lot of plastic. America, people 6 and over are positive 93% of the time to BPA, (a plastic chemical). So plastic is polluting.
Places where plastic are
Plastic are nearly everywhere you go, whether you are driving and you look out your window, House, The park and etc. This is just one of the examples of why polluting plastic is bad. Here’s a fact, there is enough plastic and debris in the ocean so we could fill the whole of Texas two times over. All of those plastic is killing animals and destructing animal’s environment. 150,000 tons of plastic is dumped into the ocean each year. In the city there are things in plastic getting sold, and then when you’re finished you just throw it out. The energy that is saves when you recycle plastic is enough to power put a light bulb for 1 hour. But we are not recycling a lot of plastic which is also really polluting.
Bad Plastic and Ok plastics and what to do with them
Normal plastic are really bad because it destroys animals environments, most of that plastics are in the ocean, like the birds that have plastics around there neck. Nearly everything is made of plastic or has a plastic chemical. A normal human these days has a plastic chemical in there body. 93% of American’s over 6 years over have a plastic chemical. We can reduce this by recycling plastic, it can save enough energy to run a bulb for 1 hour.
Top 5 Facts
1. 13 million plastic bags are used every day, and this shows us how dependent we are on plastics. 2. We use 20 times more plastic now than 50 years ago, imagine how much we will use in 50 years’ time. 3. You can help, if you buy strawberries or berries at the farmers market simply bring the plastic containers to the market and you can get a refill, you can also go to the supermarket and just give the piece of plastic back and they will take it and put back into production. 4. Give up gum because gum was originally made from tree sap called chicle, a natural rubber. Not only could you be chewing on plastic but you could also be chewing on chemicals. Bottle water produces 1.5 million tons of plastic waste per year, and these bottles require 177.914 of litres of oil to produce. 5. 13 million tons pf plastic was produce in America in 2009, and only 7% were recycled. About 1million plastic bags are used every minute.
