Gator Greetings
It was wonderful seeing many of you at the Book Fair Sidewalk Sale on Tuesday afternoon. We had a great turn out as families shopped together and cooled off with a Kona Ice. Today, we had a fantastic time celebrating our Gator Packs at this month’s Gator Gathering. Students sat outside on their yoga mats with their book buddy class around the track for this community meeting. We sang our school song, made recognitions, learned about each of the six Gator Packs, and ended with the exciting announcement of One Book One School reading initiative.
For the next month, all students at Allisonville will participate in One Book One School and will be reading the book, Little Rhino, My New Team together. Little Rhino, is by MLB player Ryan Howard and is a great book about overcoming obstacles and doing what you love. Primary classes will be reading this book with intermediate book buddy classes and all teachers will be discussing the themes of the book with students throughout the month of September. Mrs. Weiger will help to lead our One Book One School from the Media Center, as well as on morning announcements. Your child will receive their copy of Little Rhino on Monday at school. Be sure to ask them about it!
The fall fundraiser is still running next week, so thank you for supporting the AV PTO and helping your child sell fundraiser items to family and friends. PTO will have its fall General PTO Meeting on Thursday, September 2 from 6:30-7:00 on Zoom. This meeting is open to all families, and we encourage parents to attend so you can hear all about what the PTO has planned this year and also from some of our teachers about exciting things happening in their classrooms. A Zoom webinar link will be sent out next week for families to use. Also, don’t forget to order a pizza to support the PTO’s Dine to Donate on Tuesday night at Papa John’s. Thanks for your support of all these events.
