We don't have a Star Student this week. We will have our Marble Jar Celebration this Friday afternoon-- we're watching Despicable Me in our pajamas!! Last Friday we had another demo lesson from a possible sub for Mrs. Kaubin. In Social Studies we all made our project choices, and we'll start creating our projects this week! Don't forget that we have our Winter Concert this Wednesday!
Tuesday 1/29
Yesterday in Science, we observed the jar of water that Mrs. Landry put in the freezer to help us understand physical weathering. When the water froze, it expanded so much, it popped off the lid of the jar! Also, in Writing Workshop, we watched videos of 3 effective speakers: Severn Suzuki, John F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King.

Today in Chorus, we had our Winter Concert! In Social Studies, we will begin creating our Immigration projects. We have at least one person doing each project choice: journals, photo journals, maps, and MineCraft worlds! Yesterday in Science, we learned about four new rocks: limestone, basalt, sandstone, and marble.
Thursday 1/31
In Reading Workshop, we are working with our research teams to create a Google slide that will teach our classmates about our extreme weather topics. In Writing Workshop, we are writing the final drafts of our essays-- and then we'll be recorded giving them as speeches by our Writing Partners! Sabrina and Samantha earned awards from our New Jersey State Legislators for participating in an MLK Day program! Tomorrow afternoon we'll be watching a movie to celebrate filling the Marble Jar-- don't forget to wear your pajamas!
