Principal's Message
As this month zooms by, we continue to practice our monthly character trait RESPONSIBILITY. Mrs Landau is reading some amazing books which reinforce the importance of taking action and understanding how our choices affect others, ourselves and the world. A few of her top choices are Even Superheroes Make Mistakes by Shelly Becker, The Good Egg by Jory John, What If Everybody Did That by Ellen Javernick, I Promise by Lebron James and The Paperboy by Dav Pilkey.
And, some of our 5th Graders are learning responsibility by working the Student Store - they arrive early, open up the store, create displays to showcase small trinkets, assist younger students and make change - yes with real cash! Proceeds from the Student Store will go toward funding the 5th Grade Celebration. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who are helping teach responsibility to our students!
Looks like we might see the sun this weekend!

i-Ready Spring Assessment
OSAS Schedule and Reminders
Oregon State Assessment will take place in April and May, refer to the Save the Date section above and chart below for details. Teachers will also be sending out information in their newsletters.
Prepare your student for testing by ensuring:
- They are well rested
- Have healthy breakfast, lunch and snack options
- CHARGED chromebook
- Encouragement - we believe in them!
If a student has a smartphone or watch, these will need to be kept in backpacks during testing as access to them creates an impropriety, per state assessment regulations.
Oregon State Assessment Opt-Out Form
State law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the State Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of the math and English Language Arts assessments for the current school year. Should you wish to opt out your child, fill out the form and submit it to the main office at your child’s school. Please note the submission deadlines listed on the form. Meeting the deadline will help the school with planning and preparation. If you wish your child not to participate in the science assessment for grades 5, 8, and 11, submit this request in writing to the principal of your child's school.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please contact your child’s principal or teacher(s).
Click here for opt-out form for Math and English Language Arts.
2022-23 Registration
Registration for the 2022-23 school year (all grade levels) is open! This is for new students who have never enrolled in Lake Oswego before and for returning students who are not currently enrolled but will re-enroll for next year. Registration is online through ParentVUE. Parents do not need to register students for 2022-23 who are currently attending during the 2021- 22 school year. Information about registration, including Spanish Immersion, can be found here.
Families of students who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2022 can find information about Kindergarten, including how to register, on the Hallinan Kinder Counts pre-recorded video on the Hallinan website. The lottery registration deadline is Friday, 4/29. If Hallinan has more age-eligible registered kindergarten students than capacity, the District will conduct a lottery. Additional information can be found here.
