Newsletter Term 2 Week 2
Patumahoe School 11th of May 2022
Principal's Desk
Kia ora parents, caregivers, and extended whanau
It is with sadness that I must inform you that I will be finishing up as principal of Patumahoe School at the end of term 3 2022. I have been offered the principalship of Opaheke School starting in term 4. As I have just under two terms left and a lot of mahi still to do, I will save my reflections for the end of term 3. What I will say, though, is that it has been an absolute privilege to serve our community and tamariki, and to work with the exceptional team we have here. It truly is a great and very special school.
I had the pleasure of watching some of our girls in action on the netball court over the weekend. They played with great attitudes and showed plenty of potential. I love winter sports and it was nice to see the netball courts alive again.
Thank you to all of our parents who came attended our Kotahitanga meetings last night. Our next formal parent teacher meetings will be early in term 3 and will coincide with mid-year reports.
Our orienteering team competed at the Franklin Zone orienteering championships at Eden Christian academy yesterday. Mrs Hancock was suitably impressed by the efforts of our students. The next event on the sporting calendar is the Franklin Soccer day in Tuakau in week 5. This runs over two days and will involve selected students from Years 3-6.
The PTA have a meeting this Thursday and they want some fresh faces. I encourage you to pop in to the school library at 2.30pm and make yourself known as there are a few cool things on the PTA horizon.
Have a great week

Board of Trustees panui
With very mixed feelings, the board has accepted Jade's resignation as he takes on a new role as principal of Ōpaheke Primary School in Papakura. Jade's last day will be at the end of Term 3.
We acknowledge that the recent personnel changes may be unsettling for our community, however, please be assured that the school continues to be in a great position going forward with a strong team focussed on getting the best outcomes for our children.
In the coming weeks we will begin the process of recruiting a new principal, for which there are set protocols to follow, and this will include community input. As a board we understand the importance of this appointment and we will be looking to ensure that we get the best candidate possible.
We will cover off a more detailed farewell to Jade in the coming months, but would like to thank him for his tremendous efforts during his tenure at Patumahoe School, and wish him the very best for his future endeavours.
