What We Learned This Week
Letters - Preview Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss, Tt
Stories - The Gingerbread Man, Here are My Hands and How Are You Feeling?.
Phonemic Awareness Skill - Beginning Sounds
We focused on the tale of the Gingerbread Man. We learned some new vocabulary words (crumbled, sniffed, stream, and offered) and came up with motions to help us remember what they mean. We learned that characters are the people or animals in a story and practiced telling what happens at the beginning, middle and end of a story.
We learned about rectangles and hexagons this week. We sorted examples and non-examples (rectangles/not rectangles, hexagons/not hexagons), drew the shapes and counted the number of sides and vertices.
This week we used our 5 Senses to observe and explore popping popcorn and baking cookies. We discussed how we use our senses to help us learn about the world around us.
- Headphones (one pair per kiddo) - We are going to start going to the Computer Lab on Monday and headphones make it much easier for them to focus on their own computer. We will send these home at the end of the year.
- Extra Snacks - for kiddos who forget their snack. Things like fruit snacks, granola bars and crackers are good choices.
- Black Flair Pens - for drawing and writing projects
- Matchbox Cars (metal body) - for our next science unit, Forces and Interactions.
