    Lenten Sacrificial Program

Today the students brought home a Lenten Calendar and canister. Each day on the calendar lists an activity as well as a suggested sacrificial offering to be placed in the offering canister on dedicated days. Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We hope that these activities, as well as our Lenten Missions, will help our parish grow in deeper respect and love of God and deepen our understanding of the need to care for others. The offering canisters will be collected in Church on Easter Sunday before the Masses or you may also drop them off at school and we will hand in on your behalf. This year we are collecting funds for The Maryhill Crisis Nursery located in Chicago, under the direction of Sister Catherine Ryan. Thank you for your participation in this program.

    Virtue of the Month

March: Fortitude is the moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life. The virtue of fortitude enables one to conquer fear, even fear of death, and to face trials and persecutions. It disposes one even to renounce and sacrifice his life in defense of a just cause. "The Lord is my strength and my song."70 "In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
