Shout out to Bob and Sam for their total dedication to this building during snowmaggedon 2016! Incredible job getting our building ready for the kids and staff!

Thank you Mrs. Van Reenen for coming to school for the PTA meeting even when it was cancelled :)

Special Course Highlight:

CFIP—Supporting Data Dialogue in the Classroom through the Classroom-Focused Improvement Process

Dates: February 24—April 26 This course is an introduction to the Classroom-Focused Improvement Process (CFIP) and is recommended for school-based educators. CFIP is a school-based data analysis process that empowers teachers to make data-based decisions that will increase student learning. Course outcomes focus on understanding the underpinnings of the protocol, the steps in the process, and Implementation insights. Instructional materials include analysis of current school data processes, completed CFIP templates, and embedded videos of Maryland educators using and commenting on the CFIP process. It is recommended that you attend with a school content or grade-level team, but this course is also appropriate for individuals.

Read Across America Week

Monday, February 29th through Friday, March 4th is Read Across America Week! Read Across America Week is an educational initiative to increase reading excitement. March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Dr. Seuss is a well known children’s author who uses rhyme and repetition to excite young readers.

Pleasant Valley plans to celebrate Read Across America Week by having a spirit week!

PVE Night of Knowledge

The date for PVE Night of Knowledge is Thursday, May 5th 6:30-7:30. This is the night where students showcase work across the grades and ENCORE classes. Please mark your calendars to attend.

Collaborative Curriculum Brainstorming With SBS

Please join us at SBE for collaborative curriculum brainstorming at SBE!

To register for the PD, teachers will need to do the following. This is how we will take attendance and teachers will get paid. Here are the directions:

1. On the employee portal go to WCPS Professional Development

2. Once there go to WCPS Professional Learning

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Link to ERO"

4. Enter your ID# 5________ and PIN (this is the same number teachers use with the substitute system)

5. Accept the Terms and Conditions

6. Go to course catalog

7. Once there click on "View Schedule Calendar"

8. Once the calendar appears, click on Feb. 11

9. This will take them to all of the courses available on the 11th. Click view on "Sharpsburg/Pleasant Valley Collaborative Planning"

10. Click on register--they will be registered automatically.
