Mustang Messenger
January 2019
From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to 2019! I hope you all had a restful and relaxing winter break, and enjoyed some of the unseasonably warm, sunny weather!
As much as I've loved the sunshine, I know that wintry weather lies ahead. Please make sure that your children are prepared for outdoor recess. Unless there is inclement weather or the windchill is dangerously cold to children, all students go outside. We do not allow students to remain inside unless there is a note from a doctor. We simply don't have the staff to supervise a large number of students who would remain inside. Notes from a physician must also indicate the number of days remaining inside is recommended. We also recommend that students have spare mittens, hats, and scarves that could be left at school. Our health office doesn't have a lot of spare clothing for students who become wet from playing in the snow, so you're also welcome to send in spare clothing if you have a "snow angel." :)
There are a couple of changes in the office I'd like to make you aware of so that you can bear with us as we make the transitions. Ms. Katie Stout, who has been our full-time office aide since August, will be moving to our part-time position so that she can concentrate on finishing her degree. It's a gift that we get to keep her part-time in our office! Ms. Kelly Gustafson, previously our universal substitute, will be taking over as our full-time office aide. Kelly has a background in office work and of course, was already part of the Mustang family so she was an ideal choice!
I am looking foward to this next semester with your children! It's going to be a great second half of our already-great year!
In service of your child,
Mrs. Heerschop
