National Young Readers Week
November 10-14
Let's Celebrate Reading!
We never want to miss an opportunity to celebrate and promote reading, so this week we have planned some fun activities to show our students that we are all readers and that reading is fun!! We have tried to coordinate activities that disrupt your normal schedule as little as possible. We hope that you find this week fun and worthwhile. Thank you for your help inspiring young students to read!
Monday: Snuggle Up with a Good Book
Monday: Students and teachers: wear you pajamas, bring something snuggle-y, and grab a great book! Students will be snuggling up with a good book while their related arts teachers show them that they love to read, too!
Tuesday: Teacher Swap
Tuesday: Teachers will "swap" classrooms to read to students other than their own. Please refer to your email from Friday to know who your partnering classroom is.
Wednesday: Reading Activities in Related Arts Classes
Related Arts teachers will be conducting activities that promote and celebrate reading in their classes on Wednesday.
Thursday: Tepee Reading
On Thursday, various faculty members will be reading in a tepee outside of Mrs. Ayers's office. Please refer to the email "Tepee schedule" which you will receive Monday to see when we are asking you to send a couple of students to read in the tepee. This can be a reward for students with a certain number of tickets, it can be a special reward for the student of the day, or you may decide how you pick the students that will be joining the adults to read.
Friday: Mystery Reader at the Academic Pep Rally
To cap off our week of reading celebration, we will be having a Mystery Reader at the academic pep rally. He or she will read a short book offstage, and the students will guess who the Mystery Reader is.
