Greetings Sonia Sotomayor Families!

As we reflect on the first part of our school year and some of the many challenges we have faced due to this pandemic, Jana and I paused, and took a moment to list all of the many things we are grateful for.

We are grateful to still be in school each day. We are grateful to work with a dedicated staff that brings their best to our students each and every day, no matter the learning platform. We are grateful for resilient children that have shown so much flexibility with all of the changes and also their commitment to wearing masks, washing hands, and staying safe. Finally, we are incredibly grateful for the amazing families that have shown grace, patience, and kindness when they get a late night call regarding their child’s ability to attend school the next day. We are grateful for the generosity of our families who have shown their appreciation of staff with treats and well wishes. We are grateful for a PTO that has showered our entire staff with love and support many times over. We are grateful for a creative PASI who faced many challenges but still provided a wonderful Great Gatherings event that generated funds for future interns, teacher grants, and school supplies.

As winter break draws near, we hope that each of you has time to pause, relax, and spend some time making great memories during this unprecedented time that is 2020.

So proud to be a part of this amazing school community!

Counselor's Corner

Christmas time is full of fun, cozy moments: driving around looking at lights, sipping cocoa by the fire, having meals together. And then, the kids start fighting, it can make us crazy! Sometimes I think their bickering bothers me more than it bothers them! Still, I want them to grow up to be lifelong friends and an important part of each others lives. So I do my best to talk through some of this with them: your little sister bugs you because to her bad attention is better than no attention. You are her brother, she thinks you are the coolest thing ever! Below are some ideas and ways from GoZen to help your kids work out their sibling squabbles. Look through it and and pick out your favorites.

PTO News

The PTO would like to encourage all families to take a few minutes and reach out to your children’s teachers with a note of thanks and gratitude as we wind down this very unprecedented semester. We are so proud of how our staff members have navigated the many challenges this year has brought us, and we feel it would be wonderful for them to receive an outpouring of love from all of us, whether that be an email, card, or a quick chat. Thank you for supporting our incredible teachers and staff!

PASI News

Thank you to everyone who supported PASI’s Great Gatherings this year. We feel so encouraged that even in a year of economic uncertainty and high stress our Immersion Family supported us so wholeheartedly. Please check your emails for information about the Gatherings you signed up for. Have a happy holiday season and we will see you in January for our next general meeting!

Our Lost and Found is currently overflowing! In order to help with identifying your child's items, we have moved the lost and found to the vestibule. Please feel free to come look through everything before we do a donation of unclaimed items on Tuesday, December 22nd.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off Reminders

Please share the pick-up and drop-off rules with any relatives or friends that may be dropping off or picking up your child. These parts of the days can be chaotic, and we need everyone to be aware of the correct process. Please reach out to the office if you have any questions.
