The Richardson Review
April 2022
Greetings Richardson Families,
Spring is here! Thank you to all who joined us last week for our two virtual family nights. It was so much fun to see everyone even if it was on Zoom. IGF has some wonderful resources, I hope you will use them.
Huge shout out to those who were able to purchase books from the Scholastic book fair and to the PTA for putting it all together. This year the book fair raised $4,609.00. This will help us purchase birthday books and books for our classrooms. Thank you for your support.
It was exciting to hear about all the family/teacher conferences. Thank you for participating and for continuing to partner with us for your child's education.
Christ Luthern parking lot
The Christ Luthern staff have noticed Richardson families waiting for their child or parking in their parking lot and crossing the street to get their child. They have asked that we please do not wait, park, or drive through their parking lot. The church is private property. Thank you for being respectful to our community neighbor's wishes.
Parent pick-up/drop-off
When you are on 17th Ave East, please keep the corner of 17th and North 1st Street open. When it is blocked it causes a safety concern for those trying to cross the street and blocks the view for drivers coming from other directions. Please stay in your car whenever possible so you can move through the line quickly. Also, I am hearing from families that some cars are skipping the line and pulling in front of the line of cars to get their children. This is highly unsafe because a car could be pulling out at the same time.
Walkers
Several cars have started to pick up and drop off students in the parking lot outside the main office. The only cars dropping off and picking up in this location should be the school patrols. Walkers should be walking and not getting dropped off or picked up in a car. If you want to drive to pick up or drop off your student, please notify our child's teacher that they will be a parent pick and get in the pickup line with the other cars. Again, we want to keep all students safe and we appreciate your help and cooperation.

A NOTE FROM NURSE KONNIE - Updated
Dear Richardson Parents/Guardians
Spring has sprung… so have Allergies. Sneezing, wheezing, runny/stuffy nose, itchy/watery eyes!!
The trees are starting to bud and the pollen will fly. It is being predicted to be a bad season due to the early warm weather and global warming.
IF your child has seasonal allergies please let me know so I am prepared if they come to the health office not feeling well.
Some tips to make the season easier for you:
• Start any antihistamines and nasal sprays early. Keep going with them until the season is over
• Give the antihistamine at night before bed so they wake up with fewer symptoms/tiredness for the school day
• Have your child shower/wash their hair at night before bed to get the pollen off before bed
• Keep the windows closed to keep pollen out of the house
• Always check with your child’s physician for any questions or concerns
The stomach bug is still happening also: if your child is sick please keep them home. We strive to keep our kids safe and healthy
Symptoms may include but are not limited to:
- Runny/stuffy nose
- Fever
- Body aches and/or Ear aches
- Stomach aches, pains and/or vomiting
-Coughing due to illness
A refresher on other guidelines:
-If your child has any symptoms of illness or is sent home from school they must be kept home at least 24 hours OR until they are symptom-free without meds for 24 hours.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns
