Return Plans Update
Thank you to all the families who completed the registration survey this past week. We are currently reviewing the results and making plans on staffing and class rosters to make this work for everyone. Here are our tentative next steps:
- Determine the class rosters with lower class sizes in mind
- Input the schedule and rosters into Powerschool to produce individual student schedules
- Send survey sign up for Band and Choir (remote) and Spanish for 8th grade
- Update Supply Lists
- Determine bus routes
- Communicate with families on student schedules and bus routes
Supply lists may also need to be reviewed and updated if needed. We want our teams to identify any items that might not be needed. Middle School students will keep materials in their backpack to and from school daily.
Finally, a recommendation to the school board will be given on Monday to delay the first day of school to Monday, August 24. This would allow the district to provide training to our teaching staff in preparation for the school year. With so many new challenges and strategies to learn for these new pathways, our teaching staff needs ample time for professional development.
Face Masks
There are many companies that are selling masks, but which one is right for you? It really is like choosing a pair of shoes. You want them to be comfortable and still serve the purpose. The CDC recommends face make following these guidelines:
- Face masks should fit snugly and comfortably
- They must be secured with ties or ear loops
- They should comprise multiple fabric layers
- You should be able to breathe without restriction while wearing the face mask
- You should be able to wash the face masks without causing damage or losing the face mask’s shape
We do suggest families start looking for options for their child and to have them get use to wearing it for longer periods of time. Try wearing the mask around the house in relaxed environments: watching TV, playing a family game, etc.
