George Caleb Bingham
George Caleb Bingham started painting when he painted a picture of his friend. His friend admired his work. He traveled to Columbia to paint. He met James S. Rollins the founder of Missouri University. He painted portraits of people on the river. He painted more than 500 portraits in his lifetime. He died in 1879 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was inducted into the Missouri Hall of Fame in 2010.
