LEDA Scholar
Earlier this spring, Caldwell High School and TRIO Upward Bound student Julissa Hernandez Alejandre was 1 of only 100 public high school juniors from across the United States to be named a Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America Scholar.
Julissa is attending a fully-funded, five-week Summer Institute at Princeton University, designed to prepare scholars for admission to the nation's most selective colleges and universities this summer. She is Mr. Engler's first student to be on the Princeton campus.
We are so happy for her to have this amazing opportunity. Congratulations Julissa!
2022 Summer Graduates
Congratulations to our 12 summer graduates from both Caldwell and Canyon Springs High Schools. These students overcame difficult challenges and persevered to reach their goal of receiving their high school diploma. And, thank you to our staff for their relentless commitment to our youth!
We are so proud of all of your hard work!
Migrant Summer School
Students also have the opportunity to participate in STEM activities, experiential learning activities, and guided language acquisition instruction.
The goal of our Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment. Students are also offered supportive services geared towards ensuring the needs of migratory families and youth are met so they can fully participate in their education.
Summer GLAD Training
"These strategies are really beneficial for our students no matter what level they come in at. They are going to walk away enriched," said Deborah Siriwardene, Washington Elementary School Teacher.

Addressing Youth E-Cigarette Use and Vaping in Schools
You can talk to your children or other young people you know about the dangers of e-cigarettes. Tell them about the harm that nicotine in any form can do to their growing brain. Let them know that you have a strong stance against them using any tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, now or in the future. Even if you have used tobacco yourself, they will listen if you discuss your struggles with nicotine addiction.
Sometimes adults need help to start the conversation about health topics they're not familiar with, like e-cigarettes. The tip sheet below offers ideas for conversation starters, if you need a little help. Print it for yourself or share it with your children. Ask them what they think after reading the tip sheet.
