Biography
- Claudio was born in Cremona Italy on May 15, 1567
- He spent most of his life, 21 years, servicing the Duke of Mantua in Italy
- Monterverdi training was instructed by M.A. Ingegneri in Cremona
- He lived a religious life-style, becoming a priest at a point, while also serving royalty Claudio's work pleased the upper class. The style of music he wrote was concertato
- Morterverdi's works included Orfeo, Vespro della Beata Vergine, and versions of Salve Regina. He constructed church music, madrigals and operas throughout his life
- He was a patron to the Vincenzo Gonzaga, the Duke of Mantua
