From the desk of Dr. Ricks
Welcome Back! It was wonderful seeing so many of you at our Wednesday service. By now, you should have received your re-enrollment packet for the 2019-20 school year. Please return your contracts by April 1 to take advantage of the "early bird" special and get $150 off of your registration fees!
Some of you may have noticed an increased presence of Monroe police around campus. They are positioned in the mornings (be careful of your speed on N 5th!) and are patrolling more often. You may have noticed them here yesterday in response to our report of a man who was "hanging around." on 5th street. While the man moved on quickly, we proactively notified the police, and they responded immediately. There was no danger to the children or school whatsoever, but we wanted you to know that we are being more vigilant in reporting Garden District foot traffic and have an increased partnership with the Monroe Police Department. If you have any questions, please call the office, and I will be happy to update you on our policies, procedures, and the work-in-progress of our Safety Committee.
I hope that your Spring Student-Led Conferences are productive. There are many positive benefits for allowing your students to take on this leadership role in their own learning. Students who lead conferences with parents and teachers can
- develop oral communication skills.
- improve their organizational abilities.
- become adept in reflecting upon and analyzing their own strengths and weaknesses.
- gain a greater understanding of their personal learning preferences.
- develop a better appreciation for the roles that teacher and parents play in their education.
This is yet another way that your Grace Gator is excelling beyond expectations!
Have a great weekend,
Dr. Ricks
In this season of Lent, Grace School has adopted two opportunities for service:
1. In partnership with Grace Church, we have been asked to collect tennis shoes for the children living and going to school at the Kobonal Mission in Haiti. They have requested NEW tennis shoes for children of all ages. You can drop off shoes at either the Lower School or Middle School offices. Deadline for donations is March 15, 2019.
2. Pennies for Pi!! March 14, 2019 is National Pi Day, and although we plan to celebrate the mathematical constant, we also want to support a worthy cause. Next Thursday, please bring your pennies to support Two Penny Missions, a small non-profit service organization that provides shelter for those in need right here in Northeast Louisiana.
Any support is appreciated!
Take advantage of our EARLY BIRD Special!
*If you haven't received your mailed contract please let Deidra or Lynn know so we may get you a replacement contract.
