Last Tuesday, Mr. Souza and our beginner band program put on an amazing performance in front of a packed house at Metz Middle School.
Today, our 6th grade students got to travel to Metz Middle School for a Fine Arts performance put on my the Metz music department.
Finally, for the past couple weeks, Manassas City Public Schools has been working with the George Mason University Drumline to host weekend clinics at Mayfield Intermediate School. Some of our students have been getting expert tutoring from some of the best percussionist in the state of Virginia!
Manassas City Public Schools should be very proud of our music program. Great job to everyone involved.
Mayfield Career Day
Mayfield Intermediate School's Career Day will be Friday, March 29 from 8:00 to 11:00 AM. This event is a great opportunity for our students to see all the careers that they can start preparing for even at this young age. I know that this will be a rewarding experience for our students as well as our Career Day presenters. Please consider donating some of your time to come in and support our Mayfield Bobcats with your knowledge and expertise!
Middle School Sports: Attention All 6th Grade Students
Effective for the spring sports season, sixth graders will be eligible to play spring sports at Metz. Discussions between Dr. Newman (Superintendent of MCPS), Mr. Ruppert (Principal at Metz), Mr. Williams (Activities Director at Metz) and me occurred during the winter months. We all decided that this could be a great opportunity for our students at Mayfield and help continue to build the a positive transition for our students as they prepare for Metz Middle School.
Metz would like to gauge the interest of students. Mayfield's PE department has copies of the physical forms needed in order to participate. Students will also need to participate in concussion training. We will notify parents of dates that are available for concussion trainings in the future. Students can stop by the gym during their PE class or the main office to pick up the forms.
Tryouts will begin on Monday, March 26th. Sports offered in the spring are; Boys Track, Girls Soccer, Baseball and Softball.
