Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. We wanted to share some information from the Counseling Department at Camelot. In this newsletter you will find helpful information about services we provide for you and your child.
Ms. Colon and I will be available throughout the school day to provide guidance and resources whether it be in the classroom, individually, or in groups. Please look over the information below and let us know if you have any questions.

Camelot Counselor's Mission Statement
At Camelot Elementary, our mission is to provide a safe learning environment that creates confident learners and provide a comprehensive guidance program that will develop students to their full potential. Our vision is that our students will be come responsible learners and apply their knowledge and skill to situations life will present them with. The comprehensive guidance program ensures collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators, and members of the our community to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Together we will foster academic success and social and emotional development to our students.
Program Definition
Camelot's Comprehensive Guidance Program is a program that evaluates specific needs for all children. Through the program components of guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support certified counselors are able to plan and implement guidance and counseling services to the needs of the students. The priority of student competencies will be assessed and implemented through the four components. This program will provide the developmental skills needed in areas of:
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Intrapersonal Effectiveness
Post-secondary Planning and Career Readiness
Personal Health and Safety
These competencies will provide students with the proper knowledge and skills to become responsible learners in their environment.
Program Components
Guidance Curriculum
Guidance lessons are taught in PreK-5th to all students and vary based on students developmental needs.
Individual Planning
Assist students in monitoring and understanding students individual development and preparation from middle school .
Responsive Services
Is an intervention available to all students and is provided through individual and group counseling sessions as well as referral and crisis intervention.
System Support
Includes the development of the program with the assistance of staff support, parents, and the community .
Campus Guidance and Counseling Programs Goals for the Year
- To ensure all students will be able to identify attitudes and behaviors that contribute to a positive learning environment.
- To ensure that all students will take pride in their academic work and achievements.
- Through guidance lessons ensure that all students develop the knowledge and skills for maximum educational, career, and personal and social growth during school years and beyond.
- Provide effective counseling and referral services to students that are in need of them.
- All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences, and special needs are considered in the planning and implementing of the school counseling program.

COMMUNITY IN SCHOOLS (CIS)
Our unique model positions site coordinators inside schools to assess students’ needs and provide resources to help them succeed in the classroom and in life. We partner with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers and volunteers. Whether it’s food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, Communities In Schools is there to help.

Communities in Schools of San Antonio

TCHATT
TCHATT is in partnership with select San Antonio independent school districts (ISD) to provide access to care for students with mental health needs. TCHATT services are provided virtually over a secure network.
Services provided include: ▪ Mental health evaluations. ▪ Short term counseling (4-6 sessions) for depression, anger, anxiety, self-harm or suicidal feelings, family/peer problems or trauma. ▪ Treatment with medication for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, or mood swings. ▪ Referrals to long-term treatment when necessary.

Counselor Qualifications
Counselors will be highly qualified having obtained a state-certificate for school counselor and a masters– degree in counseling. Counselors have taught in a classroom for a minimum of two years. All counselor will adhere to the professional counseling ethics that have been established by the American School Counselors Association.
