SUMMER JOURNEY OF FAITH
SUMMER WITH THE SAINTS
THIS WEEK'S VIRTUE CHALLENGE!
Virtue Challenge: Fortitude
St. Maria Goretti showed great fortitude when she stood up to her attacker, and even more when she forgave him. Her strength in the face of fear is a model to follow.
What Is It?
Sometimes called courage, strength, and endurance.
Ability to confront fear, uncertainty, and intimidation
Live It Out!
Have you been putting off something that makes you nervous? Do it.
Not sure how to do something? Be brave and ask for help.
MASS CONNECTION
Mass Connection: The Confiteor (Penitential Rite)
At the beginning of Mass, we prepare for what we are about to do by recognizing our humanity, our sinfulness. And we own up to it, asking forgiveness. Just as Maria Goretti often confessed her sins to the priest, we confess that we are sinners and yet we are entering into a sacred mystery – we need God to strengthen us for both!
When praying the Confiteor, recognize the dual nature of the prayer: to own up to our sinful nature, and to ask our community to intercede on our behalf. Then pray for those around you!

BREATHE!
Tip of the week: LAUGH! Laughter is good for the soul and it is proven to help maintain your psychological stability in times of stress.
What makes you laugh?
silly videos, a good joke, a comedy? Whatever it is, take time out to indulge this week and get a good belly laugh!
COOK!
July 11 is the Memorial of Saint Benedict, Abbot. St. Benedict is co-patron of Europe (along with Saints Cyril and Methodius) and the patron saint of Pope Benedict XVI's pontificate. Benedict lived briefly with a group of monks, then as a hermit. He emerged as an organizer of monastic communities. His monastic movement attracted large numbers of people who were looking to live their faith more deeply. We hope making this breakfast dish provides you a chance to talk about this important saint.
