Lead Learner Updates - February 2022

Are You a Fan?

Dear Brasser Families,

We have officially reached the half-way mark! In just a few more weeks we will be at our Mid-Winter Break.

Being we are beginning our second semester of school, we recommend taking time to talk with your children about his/her progress in school. Most students work very hard to do their best, and your acknowledgment is very important to them. For students who are struggling, your support and interest in their success is critical. We support your Right & Responsibility to inquire to the school about your child’s progress at any time. Other suggestions are: ask your child what they are most proud of and why; ask them what their greatest challenge is and how you can help them to succeed.

If you are a Buffalo Bills fan, the end of January was exciting, but ultimately heartbreaking. Did you notice what occurred at the end of the game? After the Chiefs scored in OT, Patrick Mahomes intentionally sought out Josh Allen... to congratulate him for playing an amazing game and to empathize with how Allen was feeling in that moment. Check out this LINK to an article about emotional intelligence specifically focused on the interactions between Allen and Mahomes at the end of the game. This is the type of sportsmanship that epitomizes the Spartan Way and is an amazing example for our students

There are so many wonderful things going on in your child’s classroom and we hope you have a chance to hear about them each day. As always, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher, or Mr. Young if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to finishing this year strong by working with you and your most treasured resource... your child.

Gates Chili Communication Survey

Before the new year, we told you that the district would be sharing a family communication and satisfaction survey to help us gain input and feedback on how we are meeting student and family needs. That survey is now available at www.gateschili.org/Survey. Please complete one survey per family between Feb. 1-15 based on your current experience at Gates Chili. Your feedback will be helpful in our effort to enhance your student’s school experience for many years to come.

If you have not already done so, please complete our family communication and satisfaction survey to help us gain input and feedback on how we are meeting student and family needs. That survey is available at www.gateschili.org/Survey until Feb. 15. Please complete one survey per family based on your current experience in the district. Your feedback will be helpful in our effort to enhance your student’s school experience for many years to come.

FBFA - Play Dates & Birthday Parties

Due to confidentiality rules, we as a school are not allowed to share addresses or phone numbers. But the FBFA is interested in helping out......

Families are finding that students are wanting each other's contact information to plan play dates or birthday parties, which is fantastic! Teachers are unable to share this information, but the FBFA creates a Family Directory that can be joined at any time. Here is YOUR opportunity, if you haven't yet, to get in on the fun. (Many of you are already in there and do NOT need to submit again.)

Once you submit your information using the link below, it goes into a school-wide spreadsheet with other families that also submitted their information. You'll be able to access it at any time once you have the link- I'll send that out next week to everyone on the list. Thanks for participating!
