The School That Spirit Built March 2022
Vigor High School's Laniah Stewart is a proud member of the 2021-2022 Youth Leadership Mobile program. In this program, we participate in many different activities to help better the Mobile community. As a part of my community service project, I decided to organize a clothing drive on behalf of Penelope’s Closet. Penelope’s Closet is an essential component of Penelope’s House, which is a women and children’s shelter for victims of domestic violence. I thought it would be a very great idea to set up boxes here at the school and at Blount High School, so that we could compete to see which school donates the most clothes. Since the two schools are already rivals, I thought it would be a fun and engaging opportunity for students and school officials to participate. Both schools have successfully donated a large amount of clothing items! After completing this community service project, I felt so happy to be able to help those women and children! Nothing is better than helping people during their time of need!

4th Place Finish
On March 25th, Vigor's JROTC participated in a drill meet at Baker High School. The meet was for 9th and 10th graders. All 12 JROTC programs in Mobile County were invited to compete. The events featured inspection, squad, drill and color guard teams. We fielded a drill squad and an inspection team. the students practiced hard for the last few weeks and did not place as high as they wanted to. The drill team was lead by Cadet Damien Dixon and the inspection Team by Tatyana Warren. The inspection team did place 4th out of the teams that competed.
inspection team members from left to right are: Cadets Wheat, Yates, Kendrick, Edwards and Reed. Tatyana Warren commanded the team.
Damien Dixon commanded the drill squad and is seen here with all the Vigor students who participated in both events.
