The School That Spirit Built March 2022

Laniah Stewart

Vigor High School's Laniah Stewart is a proud member of the 2021-2022 Youth Leadership Mobile program. In this program, we participate in many different activities to help better the Mobile community. As a part of my community service project, I decided to organize a clothing drive on behalf of Penelope’s Closet. Penelope’s Closet is an essential component of Penelope’s House, which is a women and children’s shelter for victims of domestic violence. I thought it would be a very great idea to set up boxes here at the school and at Blount High School, so that we could compete to see which school donates the most clothes. Since the two schools are already rivals, I thought it would be a fun and engaging opportunity for students and school officials to participate. Both schools have successfully donated a large amount of clothing items! After completing this community service project, I felt so happy to be able to help those women and children! Nothing is better than helping people during their time of need!

Special Guest Visit Entrepreneurial Youth of America Club
