Kia ora ma whanau te kura Kotuku Lauriston,

Excitement is building across the school as we draw close to the end of Term 2, and look ahead to next week’s Matariki celebrations on Friday the 8 July (A postponement decision for Term 3 will be made on the morning of the 6 July-weather forecast dependent).

We look forward to seeing you join us for the activities you have indicated that you are able to attend on the day with Hangi, End of Term Assembly and Tree Planting all activities which help us mark our Matariki celebrations and Term 2 achievements.

Please consider carefully the following document ‘Mānawatia a Matariki o te kura Kotuku Lauriston: Celebrating Matariki at Lauriston School’ which is complete with a special Matariki video on page 2, filmed on Huirāpa-Mt Hutt in the early hours of the morning last week by the media team from Mt Hutt Ski Field, to help us reflect on the meaning of Matariki within our local context.

This document is available to our community and offers insight into our organisation on the day. Staff responsible for the running of each aspect of our celebrations, will be in contact with their respective whanau helpers soon, to provide information around your roles within each waka or volunteer team.

Thank you for your feedback and generous donations-we look forward to welcoming you to join us in making this first annual Matariki celebration at Lauriston School a special day to remember.

Nga mihi nui

The Lauriston Team
