Bullets & Ballots
Unit 2 Summative Assessment
Analysis
Social groups greatly effect, culture, society, and the government.
During the Bullets & Ballots simulation, I was a member of the Guerrillas. The game definitely showed the forces of conflict and cooperation between the different social groups. My group moved around the classroom a lot, and talked to the other social groups. We were presented multiple treaties, but we only signed a few. One was with the peasants, and the other was with the Guatemalan government. In both treaties, we provided protection to both social groups. These treaties, and others alike among the other groups had an affect on the game. For example, the American Government made a treaty with the Guatemala, and in fine print, the American Government took all the Guatemalans military strength points (MSUs). The Guatemalan Government no longer had the most MSUs, and they no longer had the power to silence people. That put the Guerrillas in the lead with the most MSUs. If the game had continued there may have been more shift in power, and everyone would have continued to fight.

Enduring Understanding connects to my life. There are social groups everywhere. I am a part of many different social groups. One of the social groups I am a part of is, the eventers. In the horse world, there are many different disciplines. Disciplines, such as, hunters, saddle seat, barrel racing, endurance driving, vaulting, Roman riding, dressage, eventing, show jumping, roping, and many more. Each discipline is a social group. Each social group has their own cultural mosaic, for example people perceive hunters as snotty, mean, and have a lot of money. Or they perceive western riders as reckless, and insensitive. There is always a shift in perspective of the disciplines, its like a shift in power in the simulation. When there are big events that happen, good or bad, people will change the way they see/think of that discipline or social group. But horse people all have one thing in common, the love of horses. Much like in other real world conflicts, and the simulation, there is always a shared goal or interest.
