A note from Principal Abrahamson
Happy New Year to all!
I hope you had a wonderful winter break and had some time to unwind and relax. I hope the year is off to a great start! Here at Carver everyone is busy becoming reacquainted with the ritual and routines of school. Each January is re-month at Carver. Teachers are taking time daily to reintroduce and model student expectations both academically and behaviorally as we continue to strive for academic excellence along with building trusting relationships.
FAST Testing is done 3 times a year to help teachers and families monitor progress in math and reading. All grades will start FAST Testing sometime during the window of January 7th thru January 14th. We will also be Fast Testing again in the spring.
Last year at this time, I talked about how we won’t forget 2020. What we were living through at the time would be part of what we read about in the future. Here we are in 2022 and, and still facing the global pandemic, we know that things are uncertain and stressful for all involved. We are trying to be as proactive as possible, keep students in school as long as we can, and continue to build relationships, connections and social-emotional learning as a priority.
Thank you to those who filled out the district Possip survey. This survey will come out each month for families to give quick feedback. Our biggest theme the month of December was “What is Possip”:
Your voice matters! We need to hear what's working for you and what you need. This year we will send routine text messages and emails with a few simple questions asking for feedback on your experience with school. You will receive these messages from Possip, an organization we have partnered with to learn your needs.
Carver is still unable to hold our all school meetings. Our student leadership team is working hard to keep all school meetings virtual and weekly announcements running. The topics for the months of January and February are families- representation, identity, and diversity.
Stay warm, healthy, and safe!
Gena Abrahamson, Carver Principal

Be ready for the cold!
Cold weather policy
During the winter, we only keep students in for recess when the temperature drops below zero or if the wind chill is -10° or colder. Students also wait outside for drop off and pick up. Please make sure students are appropriately dressed for outside weather as it tends to change frequently in Minnesota. Make sure your student has:
- hat
- mittens/gloves,
- warm jacket
- snow pants
- winter boots
If you are in need of any winter gear, please reach out to us! Be sure to label your child’s name on all clothing. The lost and found is growing each day.

Feedback through Possip
Dear 622 Families,
Your voice matters! We need to hear what is working for you and what your family needs. The district has started to send routine text messages and emails with a few simple questions asking for feedback on your experience with school. You will receive these messages from Possip, an organization we are collaborating with to learn your needs. Your responses can remain anonymous.
Expect to begin receiving the messages monthly starting in December.
