Maggie Johnson
Seeking: Advanced Practitioner degree
About Me
My name is Maggie Johnson and I earned my undergraduate from UNK in 2007, and I am slowly but surely finishing up my master's degree this semester! Yay!! I truly love working with students, but especially students with special needs. Although some days are difficult, overall the journey of working with these special kiddos is beyond rewarding and gratifying. They make me want to be a better teacher and learn more everyday (hence me earning this degree!) I have been married for 7 years to my husband and we have three children. We live near Dunbar, Nebraska on a small acreage. I am a homebody and enjoy playing boardgames with my kids, having movie nights, and curling up to read a good book.
Teaching Experience
I am in my 8th year teaching as a Special Education teacher. I am currently teaching in the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca School district in lower elementary. I have had the please of working with students with many different kinds of disabilities including: Down Syndrome, MD, Spina Bifida, ASD, TBI, Learning Disability, Fragile X, etc. Each student that I work with gives me more experience and knowledge to use and apply to other situations and students. I am looking forward to embarking on this journey with all of you!
Proud moment!
This is a picture of my children: Emmie (5), Adam (6), and Ollie (1) last month as we awaited the arrival of my husband home from an 11 month deployment overseas. We are so proud of him and got the best Christmas present possible!
