PTA President's Report - Jean Scott
Happy Fall, Oakview families! PTA is hoping for cool weather for our students at the October 9 Boosterthon fun run. The Hootenanny fall festival is also coming soon. Read on for more details about these exciting events. As always, please email me at dianajeanscott@yahoo.com if you have any questions or comments about your Oakview PTA.
PTA Memberships
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that have participated in the PTA Membership Drive. It is not too late to join. All families that joined PTA should of received their cards, which were sent home with your children. We would like to thank Moe's for supplying a BOGO card with each PTA membership card.
The first class in each grade to reach 100% won a TCBY yogurt party. The winners are:
K5 Mrs. Ables & Mrs. Ludwig tied
1st Ms. Higgins
2nd Mr. Gambrell
3rd Mrs. Bradt
4th Mrs. Bell
5th Mrs. McKamy
We also had classes to reach 100% after these winners. Each of those classes received extra recess at the teachers discretion.
If you are new to Oakview, please help us reach our goal of 100%! You can still join PTA.
If you have questions, please contact Leslie Ferrell at lferrel3@bellsouth.net.
Hootenanny
Give a Hoot and volunteer! We can’t have the festival on Friday, November 7 without help from all our Oakview parents. In a streamlining effort, the Sign-up Genius for donating items is separated by grade level this year. You can find the links on the Oakview home page at www.greenville.k12.sc.us/oakview and on the PTA page of the Oakview website at www.oakviewpta.com, or look for the email from your room coordinators with the link. Please consider donating multiple items if you have more than one child at Oakview. Your time is valuable as well. We will have a lot of exciting games this year which means opportunities to work a booth shift. Look for information from your room coordinator for volunteer time-slots. Lastly, the Hootenanny is a great place for your middle school or high school students to earn service hours. There will be a separate Sign-up Genius just for student volunteers coming out later this month.
Once again, all your Hootenanny favorites will be there: carnival rides, games, tissue-paper flowers, food from Chick-Fil-A, Sabretts, and Papa Johns as well as dessert from our bake sale and TCBY. Take home a cake from our cake walk or win a prize at BINGO; our Hootenanny has something for everyone!

We look forward to seeing you at the Hoot!

Room Coordinators (RC) are in place and the year is ready to ramp up for volunteer opportunities! A big thank you goes out to the RCs for their willingness to step up and help the teachers and their classrooms run smoothly! We couldn't make it happen without the parents and your willingness to share your time. If you are interested in volunteering and needs some ideas/direction, go to the Oakview PTA website for opportunities, committees, and contacts. The website is: www.oakviewpta.com.
We look forward to another amazing year full of fun and learning at Oakview! Please feel free to contact the volunteer co-chairs, Julie Wells (juliewellspta@gmail.com) or Jennifer Smith (jennifersmith5@charter.net), with any questions!
