November 2015 Online Edition

Principal's Message

Dear Families and Friends of Boone School,

CPS has released school ratings, and I’m pleased to report that Boone has once again been designated as a Level 1+ school! We anticipate having official school report cards ready to share with you soon. Congratulations to our entire school community! This rating comes in large part due to our commitment to keep trying to “Work Hard and Be Kind!” every day. Our efforts continue to improve the overall educational experience for all students, and I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing community of learners.

We have nearly wrapped up 2 months of school and November is upon us. November brings many wonderful events and holidays, which also means that there are several days this month where students will not have classes. Please be sure to carefully look at the calendar below to note which days we will not have regular school in session. I especially look forward to seeing you all on Parent-Teacher Conference Day on November 18!

Sincerely,

Jackie Delaney, Principal

Parent-Teacher Conference Day

The CPS elementary school Parent-Teacher Conference Day (formerly known as "Report Card Pick Up Day) is scheduled for Wednesday, 11/18/15. Students do NOT attend classes on this day. Please note that the hours will be 12:00-3:00PM, and 4:00-7:00PM. Teachers will be unavailable from 3:00-4:00 PM. We hope to see you there!

Winter Weather is Coming!

Please be sure to have students dress warmly and wear coats, hats, scarves, and mittens as necessary once the winter weather arrives. Students all have daily outdoor recess unless there is rain or the temperature or wind chill drops below 20 degrees.

Attendance

We are actively working to continue to improve our school-wide attendance rate at Boone. Last school year we ended at 95.5%. Our goal this year is 96%. To make this happen we need to have our students in school EVERY DAY except for in the case of illness. In grades K-3, classrooms are working hard to reach the highest attendance for the week and get a visit from Boonie the Attendance Dog! Congratulations to Rooms 112, 207, 101, 102, and 117 for outstanding attendance so far. Boonie is enjoying time in Room 117 this week!

Boone PTO International Potluck

Thanks to everyone who came out for PTO International Potluck Night! We hope you enjoyed some delicious foods from around the world and maybe even learned something new about another culture.

Help Raise Funds for Boone with Box Tops!

So far this year we have collected 1348 Box Tops for Boone, which equals $138.40 in FREE MONEY for Boone! Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far--let's keep these coming in! Box Tops are found on lots of items such as the ones below. Please be sure to clip them and bring to school.
