Community Service Learning Partnership Approved

The Board of Education approved Community Service Learning (CSL) applications for the following organizations: Morgan Full Gospel Church, Church at Willow Creek, and Dolphin Laser Swim Team Boosters. High school students gain CSL hours by volunteering or serving in a worthwhile capacity in the community while making a conscious effort to reflect, through some thoughtfully designed method, on what is learned from the service experience. Students desiring to be an honor graduate must have CSL credit.

District, Campuses Recognized for Energy-Saving Practices

Cenergistic, our energy conservation consultant, recognized the Center of Excellence, Glenview Elementary School, North Little Rock Middle School - Sixth Grade Campus, and North Little Rock High School for consuming the least amount of electricity over a four year period. The NLRSD began the partnership with Cenergistic in 2018.

The district has avoided more than $2.2 million in energy costs since the partnership.

Technology Purchases

Mr. Hunter Nannen, Information Technology Manager, provided an overview of the chromebooks and technology supplies that are needed districtwide. The chromebooks will replace out-of-date and broken units across the district. In addition, the chromebooks will be used by kindergartners and special education students.

The cost is $688,132.00 and would be paid for with ESSER funds.

Special Board Meeting and Board Workshop

The North Little Rock Board of Education will hold a Board Meeting on Thursday, October 20, 2022. All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are held in the Boardroom in the Administration Building, located at 2400 Willow Street.

The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on our YouTube Channel: NLRSD Board Meetings.

NLRSD Literacy Non-Negotiables and Support

The Curriculum Innovation and Design presented on the non-negotiables as it relates to literacy. Non-negotiables are clear and specific expectations for teaching and learning practices that outline the skills and concepts students must be taught and the lessons which teachers must expose their learners. These non-negotiables are Pre-K through 12th Grade.
