Way to Go, Pine Forest Families!

Responses to several of the questions that we are receiving have been addressed as much as possible at this time for the good of the entire Pine Forest community. Most of the information in this newsletter has been taken directly from the district's website.
FIRST DAY of School is Now Thursday, August 20, 2020
During Thursday's meeting, the Duval County School Board approved moving the first day of school for students to Thursday, August 20, 2020. Delaying the school start date provides the district with additional time to prepare buildings and classrooms to mitigate against spread of COVID-19 and for teachers to prepare for the learning options available to students.
Under the new recommendations, students at all grade levels have options to choose attendance at the school building or learning at home through online instruction.

Visual and Performing Arts Resource Updates
Because of the fact that Duval HomeRoom is divided into regions, students enrolled in Duval HomeRoom may or may not be assigned to a teacher from their school of enrollment. Until the registration window for Duval HomeRoom officially closes, students are assigned to teachers, and classes are built, it is difficult for us to determine what our resource schedule will look like at this time.
As information continues to be made available, we will continue to provide you with updates as to what resource classes for students enrolled in Duval HomeRoom will look like.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to plan for Visual and Performing Arts instruction for the upcoming school year.

School Volunteer and Visitor Updates
To minimize the risk of COVID-19 entering a school campus, school volunteers and visitors will not be permitted on school grounds. This also includes the first day of school for students.
Due to the new start date for the first day of school, we will be scheduling a new date for our Virtual Orientation and communicating that information soon.
