School Site Council Nominations

Are you interested in being more involved in the Pepper Drive School Community? We are currently seeking nominations for the Pepper Drive School Site Council.

What is SSC?

School Site Council consists of the principal, parents, and staff members who work together to discuss school issues, make decisions regarding the school budget, and monitor implementation of the academic program as presented in the Single Plan for Student Achievement. There is 1 vacant position for parents on the council for this year. Each member serves 2-year term. Nominations will close on 10/1/21.

If you are interested in joining SSC, please nominate yourself (or a friend), by emailing Ms. Locke at

Independent Study Contracts

When students are required to quarantine or when they are out for an extended period of time, the only option for continuing learning while at home is an Independent Study Agreement.

State Legislation made changes to requirements for Independent Study Agreements for the 2021-22 school year. Some of those changes are noted below:

  1. A contract may be created when a child will be out for 3 or more consecutive days. You may not know if your child will be out that long initially, but you can begin the contract on the first day of absence. On the first day your child is out, please contact your child’s teacher for assignments.
  2. This contract will include grade level content work for the child, including the amount of time the child should be spending on work each day. The time children spend working each day should be an “equivalent amount of time” they would spend in the classroom learning each day.
  3. Your child’s teacher will assign this grade level work and will evaluate its completion when the work is returned.
  4. All contracts must be completed and returned with parent and child’s signatures for academic and attendance credit.

Pepper Drive will lose funding if we do not have this information regarding household income for each student at our school. Your information is kept confidential and is not even visible to school personnel. 15 questions will likely take 5 minutes.

You can help our school and District to obtain additional funding by filling out the Annual Family Information Form. One form is needed for each child enrolled in the District.

COVID-19 Information

If you receive a call from our school office notifying you that your child has been identified as a Close Contact, you will be referred to the Quarantine Instructions Table (see below) to discuss your options for quarantine.

Interested in getting a COVID test? Here are some locations.

For more information about the Santee School District Response to Coronavirus, please visit this district Coronavirus Information Page.

TIGER Expectations Focus Area: Hallway

This coming week, we will focus on what the T.I.G.E.R. expectations look and sound like in the Halls. Ask your student to explain how we can show Teamwork, Integrity, Goals, Empathy, and Responsibility in the halls.

Picking up trash, walking on the right side of the hall, using quiet voices, etc.

TikTok Challenges

As you have probably heard, there is a dangerous trend on TikTok for students to film themselves damaging or stealing school property. Unfortunately, some Pepper Drive students have participated and have damaged or stolen school materials, chairs, signs, soap dispensers, etc. These damages add up quickly and must be taken seriously. We have identified several students involved and those families have already been contacted. If your child is able to report any other theft or vandalism, the office will be rewarding those individuals with credible information. Reports can be emailed to the office at We are a school community and we need to work together to keep our campus safe and clean. We appreciate your help.

Join PTA Today!

There is still time to join the Pepper Drive PTA! Our goal is to have 250 family members signed up by October 31st. We are getting so close. If we reach our goal, Ms. Locke will be Silly Stringed by student representatives! Signing up for PTA is a great way to support the school, and does not obligate you to volunteer or attend any meetings.
Join the PTA Today!

The classes with the most members get a prize. If we reach our goal of 250 members, Ms. Locke will get silly stringed!!
