Independent Study Contracts
When students are required to quarantine or when they are out for an extended period of time, the only option for continuing learning while at home is an Independent Study Agreement.
State Legislation made changes to requirements for Independent Study Agreements for the 2021-22 school year. Some of those changes are noted below:
- A contract may be created when a child will be out for 3 or more consecutive days. You may not know if your child will be out that long initially, but you can begin the contract on the first day of absence. On the first day your child is out, please contact your child’s teacher for assignments.
- This contract will include grade level content work for the child, including the amount of time the child should be spending on work each day. The time children spend working each day should be an “equivalent amount of time” they would spend in the classroom learning each day.
- Your child’s teacher will assign this grade level work and will evaluate its completion when the work is returned.
- All contracts must be completed and returned with parent and child’s signatures for academic and attendance credit.
