Space Camp - thank you for your support!

We had a great day this past Wednesday hosting almost 80 students for a day-long Space Camp. Students learned about life on the International Space Station (ISS), what foods are allowed and not allowed in space, how the ISS is powered, why astronauts must exercise while in space, about constellations, and much more! Thank you to our parent and upper school student volunteers for helping to lead groups, our entire PIC staff for facilitating learning activities, and a special thank you to Mrs. Karen Cormany who coordinated and planned the details of the camp! The proceeds from the Space Camp, along with generous donations from The Serra Foundation, Grand Blanc Education Foundation, and Michigan Space Grant Consortium have allowed Perry Innovation to commit to participating in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program this fall! Thank you again!

See you at PIC's Open House

We are looking forward to seeing PIC Panthers on Wed., Aug. 25 between 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. The open house format is drop in. You will receive a handout in the lobby and then make your way around Perry to see classrooms and meet teachers. Please remember to bring documents that are posted on our website under "Beginning of School Year Info", especially any medications that are needed at school and medical forms. If you need anything printed for you, please call our office at (810) 591-6078.

PIC Robotics - Grades 6-8

Hello Everyone,

Our 6-8 grade FIRST Tech challenge (robotics) team is in search of two or more mentors for the upcoming season. Mentors in the past have possessed skill in in the areas of engineering, coding, organization, and marketing. The commitment would entail two days a week 1-2 hours per day for regular meetings starting in September to the tournament(s), usually 1 or 2 tournaments in November and/or early December. Tournaments take place all day on Saturday from about 7am-5pm. If this is something you are interested in committing to, please contact Mr. Vallimont at jvallimo@gbcs.org.

A Note about PIC Robotics for Grades 2-5

Hello Everyone,

We are looking forward to a brand-new robotics season! We do currently have a lot of returning team members for our 2-5 grade teams, and our rosters are very full. We do hope to grow our programs for the future still and provide the opportunity to student that are interested in getting involved. In order for that to happen we will need to know two things. The first is if there are students that interested in joining this season. The second, if we are going to run more teams, we will need mentors to coach those teams. We do have support to guide coaches from workbooks, coach's manuals, and experienced mentors that have done this in the past. I personally come with 14 years of experience but will be stretched between 3 programs at PIC. The commitment would be two days a week 1-2 hours per session. If you have interest in mentoring, your child has interest in taking part, or if you have questions, please contact me at jvallimo@gbcs.org.

Thanks!

Covid Update

As we prepare to return to school, we understand that the Delta Variant of the Covid virus is highly contagious. Therefore, since the vaccine for our youngest students is not available yet, masks will be required for all students grade 6 and younger, as well as any older student or staff who are present in the same room with them. We will continue to follow safety protocols for Covid symptoms and contact tracing. Please see the flyers attached below for more details. Hopefully by later this fall, vaccines will be available for all!
