GOOD TO GREAT!
Early Release - May 17th
Please remember that Tuesday, May 17th is a district early release day to accommodate the funeral of one of our School Board members, Mr. Rick Edwards. MFMS will release at 1:05pm. Below is a picture of the bell schedule we will be following. Students will attend all of their classes and will be provided lunch. Please note that we will start in 6th period to not overlap lunches.
Also, the first run of school buses will be leaving at 1:12pm. Please remind your student to hustle out to the buses, so they don't miss it. The bus order will also be adjusted for May 17th, and they will be lined up in this order: 9, 7, 6, 20, 5, 2, 4, 15, 17, 23, 24, 14, 26, 29, 1, 16, 19, 27.
Please call the front office at 830-693-4439 if you have any questions.
End of Year Student Awards
The ceremony will start by recognizing 6th graders, then we will have a 5-10 minute intermission to dismiss those students and families, and then we will recognize 7th graders. This pattern will continue, and we will end the night by recognizing our 8th graders.
End of Year Behavior Expectations
Be Safe
- Hands and feet to yourself at all times
- Walk on the right side of the hallways
- No horseplaying
Be Respectful
- Use kind words to all adults and students
- Follow classroom expectations
- Respect school materials
Be Responsible
- Take care of all academic expectations
- Come to school on time and prepared to learn
- Clean up after yourself
8th grade students who earn ISS as a consequence of their behavior from May 12th until the end of the year, will not be permitted to participate in the last day of school cookout or 8th-grade wave-out.
If students earn consequences for their behavior choices, those consequences can be carried over to the 22-23 school year. This includes behavior consequences for our 8th grade students. as well. It is important that we finish the year positively, and students start the next school year in their classes.
If you have any questions, please contact your student's assistant principal.
Device Collection
All students are required to turn in their devices for the summer. If devices are not returned by the end of the year, they will be reported stolen. Please also encourage your student to remove any stickers or pictures from their device before turning them in. Contact the front office if you have any questions.
Summer School
FCA Final Meeting - May 20th

Immunizations for 7th Grade
This is a reminder that proof of your updated immunizations will be needed before you start school or pick up your Chromebook in August. Nurse Kelley mailed home notices in March to all of those needing to submit an updated shot record. Please email Nurse Kelley at ekelley@mfisd.txed.net with any questions!
Dress Code Reminder
Parents and students, it is important to remember our dress code expectations, as adopted by our school board. Specifically, it is important to review our expectations for pants, leggings, and hoodies. The information below is copied directly from the student handbook, and there is a direct link provided for your convenience.
- Pants should be worn at appropriate body size. (no sagging or clothing stretched skin tight).
- Undergarments and/or skin meant to be covered by undergarments must not be exposed.
- Leggings/Yoga Pants may be worn only if shirts worn are at fingertip length of the middle fingers or mid-thigh (whichever is shorter) as measured with relaxed shoulders in both the front and the back.
- Rips or holes in pants must be below fingertip length.
- Appropriateness/Inappropriateness of torn clothing (frays) will be determined by the school administration.
- Sweatshirts/Sweaters/Hoodies are appropriate (see shirt guidelines). Hood must be removed in the building; Cardigan (open) sweater/vests may be worn over the approved dress code clothing.
Should students be out of dress code, they will be referred to the back office to change into a school provided t-shirt or sweatpants. If you have any questions, please contact your student's assistant principal.
