Mekong River

Population Growth and it's impact
The Mekong River has 60 million people living on it. There are a lot of factories that are on the banks of the Mekong and they all don't "show respect the environment very well". Test of the river's water has shown that the river exceeds normal ammonium and mercury levels by a 1,000 times, that is because of the factories dumping hazardous materials in the water.
Climate Change and it's impact
The Mekong is affect by climate change by being at risk of potential floods and sever drought. It also affects people's livelihood and reducing agricultural productivity.
Possible solutions
One way we could solve the issue of impact the population has on the Mekong river is have more or laws restricting the pollution from people and factories in the river. One incentive to clean the and to keep them clean is not to damage or harm fishery, because 60% of freshwater fish we eat comes from the Mekong. One way we could solve the issue of the climate change is to build flood walls in low spots of the river to prevent flooding, and build an irrigation system from the mountains to water the crops.
