PRINCIPAL NEWS

Greetings EES Families,

It is hard to believe that this is our last full week of school. This school year, though abnormal, was truly amazing at EES. I am so grateful to have joined this learning community and hope to make better connections with families in person next year. Your children attend a fabulous school with caring teachers & staff, a focus on the whole child, and where learning is meaningful and fun everyday. I am proud to lead this school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me over the summer with any questions or needs. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful summer with your families!

PS: Please look for your child’s classroom placement letter for next year this Friday in their Friday Folder. Students will bring these home after Move Up Day.

Have a fabulous summer,

Ashley

SCHOOL COUNSELORS

As the school year ends, we want to remind families to celebrate all that your children have accomplished this year. When we entered the 2020-21 school year with all the unknowns and health regulations of COVID, your children walked in every day, eager to learn and ready to play with their friends. The resiliency and strength they showed each day is a tribute to their love of learning and community. Whether it was a reader's workshop, choice time or recess, the desire for social connections was present in each and every child.

We would like to emphasize how important those connections are for children and invite you to establish time for social connections throughout the summer. With the beauty of summer weather here, finding time for your children to connect with other children outside is such a wonderful opportunity for them to practice many social skills. Some opportunities include playing and hiking at Mills River, visiting one of our many area playgrounds, meeting a friend at a pool, trying out the bike park at Maple Street, exploring the audubon together with a buddy, visiting the Underhill town pond, or simply inventing a game in a friend’s backyard. These are some of the simplest ways to allow children to move their bodies while fostering social connections throughout the summer.

The counselors at EES are so proud of your children and we are eager to once again see those smiling faces. Take care and have a wonderful summer!

HEALTH OFFICE

I will be sending inhalers and EPI PENS out with teachers on the last day to give to parents during pick up. If your child rides the bus, please let me know so we can arrange a time for you to pick up their medication.

I also want to say thank you to all of our parents and guardians for following the VT DOH and AOE guidance by keeping your children home when they were sick and getting them tested when it was recommended. This helped tremendously to keep our students and staff healthy.

Have a fun and safe summer!

Thank you,
