DAVIS HILL COMMUNITY UPDATE
November 5, 2018
Despite the dreary and wet weather... our DHDragons are doing an amazing job as we head into the second quarter. Good luck to all the families scrambling to rearrange schedules for events/ sports due to the weather.
Kindly,
Jay C. Norton, Principal
*Don't forget to read through the entire update... there are always more dates in the Upcoming Events Section. If you have any questions/ concerns- please don't hesitate to contact me/ the office.
Cold Weather/ Clothes Labeling
Please remember that we try to get the kids out for recess every day when the temperature is 20 degrees or above (We factor in wind chill and other safety precautions as well). This is true also if there is a slight drizzle/ mist. Please ensure that students are properly attired for the weather conditions.
In addition, we have a Lost and Found that fills up very quickly. We have a number of items that go unclaimed. Please make sure to label items whenever possible. This includes jackets/ sweatshirts/ water bottles/ lunch boxes/ hats/ gloves/ etc. Items that are labeled have a much greater percentage of being returned than those that are not.
Thank you!
No School For Students/ Election Day
Food Pantry Donation Day- Wednesday, November 7th
We are excited to continue our Davis Hill tradition of supporting the Wachusett Food Pantry and helping our neighbors who might need an extra bag or two of groceries to get by. Your monthly generosity makes a HUGE difference! Davis Hill is one of the largest contributors to our local food pantry (see www.wachusettfoodpantry.org for more information)! The 'suggestions' on this list are JUST THAT-- suggestions. We will happily take any non-perishable, non-expired items. Collections are held the first Wednesday of each month from 8:45-9 am. (A bin will be left in the lobby for afternoon Kindergarten students and will remain in the lobby until Thursday for students who many have forgotten their donations that day).
November Theme: Inside Out/Backwards Day
November Suggestion: Turkey time: Instant potatoes, yams, stuffing, cranberries, gravy, pumpkin.
*Dressing up is optional and should honor the school's dress code policy in regards to modesty and safety.
