Safety at the Service Center
Safety at our service centers is paramount and the district is taking robust measures to ensure all employees are safeguarded while on district facilities. For this reason, all service centers have been equipped with ID access entry points. It is imperative that we all abide by the use of the access points and not prop the doors open for those not wearing their badge. Please be compliant and be vigilant of individuals at the service center who are not employees. Non-staff members should always check in at the front office and must wear a visitor sticker while on the property.
Professional Development Day - February 19, 2024
A virtual professional development session will be conducted via the Zoom platform on Monday, February 19, 2024. The link to join will be emailed on Friday, February 16th and will include additional guidelines.
If you genuinely struggle with technology and would still like to participate, please see your supervisor for accommodations.
Proposed Changes
In our last publication, we shared how concrete has been poured at the Kleberg Service Center to make room for changes that are coming. Additional concrete has been poured at a different existing Dallas ISD location which may become the home for some of Pat Raney's routes. The property is located at 3701 Botham Jean, known as the Cotton Building or the old Proctor and Gamble Building where the Maintenance Department is located. We are currently exploring how many buses this location can accommodate on the newly poured cement behind the main building as well as developing plans for further investments at this property which include renovation of an existing building that can be used for offices (pictured below smaller building next to the concrete).

Climate Survey
Thank you to all who participated in the STS Climate Study. There were well over 400 responses to the study and for the most part, the study was very positive. 83% of our responders stated they would recommend employment in Student Transportation Services and 66% had a neutral to positive experience with Samsara. We are working diligently to improve the experience with the Edulog/Samsara system. Click on the link below for the full climate survey results.
SPED Super Center
We are currently working on a consolidation plan to bring together the majority of our transportation as a related service for special needs students. The plan is for the special needs drivers / monitors from Pat Raney, Lawnview and Kleberg to come together at one location. We think this consolidation will bring greater efficiency to our service for our students receiving transporation as a related service. The North Dallas Service Center will not change. More information as we continue to unfold this development is forthcoming.
Clean Bus and Clean Service Centers
In an effort to increase the cleanliness of our buses and service centers, we have purchased new trash cans for each bus along with liners for them, big trash cans which will be placed throughout the service center and new brooms with a dust pan. Thank you for ensuring students experience a ride on a clean bus every day. It is beyond appreciated.
Uniform Shirts
Last week the STS Advisory team met to dialogue about several things going on in transportation as well as to select a different material for our uniform shirts. We think our drivers and monitors will be pleased with the change in material which should breath better than the current shirts.
Uniform T-Shirt
We are adding a T-shirt to our uniform attire to better combat the heat during the summer months. The design and color of the T-Shirt will come from our STS employees. We are asking each service center to present three designs for the new t-shirt, and we will select a winner out of the 12 designs. The t-shirt will be able to be worn on Fridays (only) and should give our team members an opportunity to be more comfortable during the hot months.
