Parent/Guardian School Organizational Team Election Overview

Las Vegas High School’s School Organizational Team (SOT) will consist of three (3) licensed staff members, one (1) education support professionals, four (4) parents/guardians, one (1) student (non-voting), and the principal (non-voting).

Parent/Guardian Election Process is outlined below:

• The School Organizational Team Parent/Guardian Interest Form will be made available by clicking on the link and through the Las Vegas High School website: beginning on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, and ending Friday, September 11, 2020, at 4:00 PM.

• Parents/Guardians interested in running for this position are required to complete the School Organizational Team Parent/Guardian Interest Form according to the directions.

• All Parent/Guardian Interest Forms must be submitted by 4:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2020.

• All Interest Forms will be verified through Infinite Campus to determine the submitter’s eligibility to serve on the SOT.

• Candidates will not be permitted to campaign on-site at any point during the election process.

• Nominees, as well as all persons wishing to cast a vote, must be a parent or legal guardian of at least one currently enrolled Las Vegas High School student.

• Pertinent information (name and written response) submitted by persons determined to be eligible will be posted on the school’s website for viewing. Candidate names and responses will be available for review beginning Monday, September 14, 2020, through Friday, September 18, 2020, through 11:59 PM.

• An official ballot will be created on which all interested and eligible parents/guardians will be listed.

• The election will be held via Google Form from 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Voting will require the form to be submitted, according to directions, with voter eligibility being determined through verification of student records in Infinite Campus.

• Voters will be instructed to select from one to four parents/guardians candidates. Ballots with more than four selections will be disqualified and none of the selections will count toward the vote totals.

• An election review committee consisting of the principal, one assistant principal, and at least three parents not on the ballot will convene to count the votes.

• The top four vote recipients will be declared winners and will be invited to serve on the SOT.

• If any winner declines, the next highest vote recipient will be asked to take their place on the SOT. If they decline, the process will continue until a full quota of parents/guardians is achieved, or the ballot list is exhausted. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by a vote of the existing members of the SOT.

• It is expected that election results will be finalized and posted on the Las Vegas High School website by Thursday, September 24, 2020.

• All ballots and documentation of election results will be archived until the day after the next year’s SOT election has been completed.

• This year’s election process must be completed by September 30, 2020.

Go Guardian

Since CCSD initiated distance learning, all Chromebooks will have a management and Internet filtering tool that your child's school uses for devices issued to students. The Internet filter will also apply to any student whenever a student logs on to a Chrome Internet browser with his or her school-issued account. GoGuardian will NOT filter content or impact the browsing experience of NON-CCSD accounts (private Gmail accounts, etc.).

Through the use of this tool, we hope to encourage safer practices and responsible browsing habits. Any attempt to access inappropriate content using a school-issued Gmail account will generate an immediate email, “red flag,” that is sent directly to the school's administrative team. The devices may be disabled remotely if deemed necessary by school administration.

For help and more information, visit Specific GoGuardian filtering questions/issues should be sent to the SBT or those with the Admin rights in GoGuardian, and they can contact GoGuardian Support as needed.

School Immunization Requirements

Please ensure to schedule appointments with your child’s health care provider for immunization visits as soon as possible. Per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 392.435 and 394.192, if a parent or legal guardian fails to provide their child’s immunization documentation, the student must be excluded from school and may not be admitted until the requirements for immunization have been met. NSIP and Nevada schools must work together as an immunization community to ensure children are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases and ready to return to school.

We appreciate all you are doing to keep all students and Nevada safe during these uncertain times. Thank you for your continued partnership.
