People Helping People "Souper Bowl" Event
January 25-February 3 each building has been challenged by People Helping People of Republic to host a "Souper Bowl" aka a soup drive contest between classes! The class (PRIDE in secondary buildings) that brings in the highest number of packaged soups in each building will be awarded with Super Bowl-type snacks on Friday, February 5.
Next week we will be diving into long division. This week we used place value blocks to develop the concept of what it means to divide large numbers (see pictures below).
Have any old board games laying around?
Our attendance the week before break was 97.4%. Our weekly goal is 95.8%. Way to get back on track!
This week we learned about different text structures that authors use in informational writing.
The text structures are description, sequence, compare/contrast, problem/solution, and cause/effect.
To practice, we did a carousel activity where the students rotated to posters with different topics. They created sentences for each text structure based on the given topic.
