Timberwolves Weekly
March 20, 2020
Thanks for your continuing support as we navigate this new world of virtual learning. Our teachers are continuing to make adjustments to help students be successful.
If time allows, consider some life skills learning, too. Students could:
- Plan and cook a meal for the family
- Develop a grocery budget
- Write a letter to an older friend or relative who needs to self- quarantine or isolate (Empathy is a life skill.)
-managing their time through out the day not only with their school but also their own personal goals and interests
-how to sort and wash laundry
-how to properly clean surfaces and areas in your house
-organize their bedroom or closet
-teach them simple repairs or maintenance
Some of the life skills you teach now may be more important than any content that will be covered in virtual learning.

A message from your School Psychologist
This article provided helpful information regarding what many of us may experience (and what we can do to maintain emotional health and well-being) as we live through the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are flooded with information about what to do, what not to do, what to believe, etc., it is important that we remember that this is temporary. Having long-term goals (stretch goals) that aren’t impacted by present stressors are helpful in guiding us through the stress that wreaks havoc on our well-being in the current situation. “Stretch goals are meant to stretch us” as professionals/students/individuals “and even require us to think of new methods and strategies. They force us to think outside of the box and to try to meet new people, to explore new industries and ideas. They are meant to be uncomfortable because growth happens on the edge of our discomfort.” Have a conversation with your child in the upcoming days. Share what some of your stretch goals were and how you accomplished them. Talk with them about what their stretch goals may look like--what they hope to learn and reach for over the long term. It’s good to dream, but more importantly, it’s better to make a plan for that dream to become a reality.Student Online Resources
