Family Newsletter

10/24/21

Hello everyone-

It sounds like the kids really enjoyed the long weekend. They had many stories to share about their adventures. We had some travel out of state, go to the pumpkin patch, go to the zoo- they loved telling us all about it!

It was so nice to see those who came into the building for the book fair and conferences this week. The kids and teachers worked so hard this first quarter and I loved hearing about all the celebrations and success that they had!

Individual student results from the Spring 2021 Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) assessments will be shared with current 4th-9th grade families the week of October 25. Individual scores will also be shared with KHS families of students who took End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. District and school-level data will be provided by the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) in December. We will be sending them home in the kids backpack. Thanks!

We are still getting some questions regarding the new volunteer process. Please see the FAQ document the district has put together for additional information. Click here

Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

Take Care-

Angeline

Family Survey- Please Complete

As shared in the KSD eSpotlight sent on Thursday, we are currently surveying our families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district effectiveness.

You may complete the survey online using a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

To fill out the survey, visit: kirkwoodschools.org/survey

If you have students in more than one building, please fill out a survey for each building. Please complete by Monday, November 8.

Student Survey Reminder

As a reminder, we will be asking for your child (grades 3-5) to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey they will be completing at school.

Our students' responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. Please notify the school/grade-level office if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys by Oct 25. You may see aa copy of the survey linked below.

Veteran's Day Parking Lot Parade

We are excited to announce that our students and staff will be honoring our Veterans in 2021 through student songs, and a special Drive Around Veterans Parade! Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade have been working with Mrs. Kesler to perform for our Veterans. Due to the current visitor guidelines, student performance for Veterans will be pre-recorded and shared through our email distribution, Dr. OH's newsletter, and Classroom newsletters, to be enjoyed by families in their homes on Veterans Day! Veterans Day programs will be sent home on Friday, November 5th, for a keepsake of this special occasion.

Our Veteran's Day Parking Lot Parade will be on Thursday, November 11, at 2pm. If your family has a Veteran you would like to invite to our Veterans Drive Around Parade, please fill out this form.

If your student would like to create a sign for your Veteran to carry or a yard sign to put out at Robinson, please have your student bring the finished product to Mrs. Maldonado by Friday, November 5.

Ghostly Greetings Robinson Families!

The PTO is excited to host Tricks and Treats, an outdoor party for our kids and families directly following the Robinson Halloween Parade to Aberdeen Heights on Friday, October 29th.

For event details, click here.

To sign up to parent help or donate for the event, click here.

Trunk or Treat? Unfortunately, we are unable to host the PTO’s Trunk or Treat this year! The PTO had been hopeful to bring back this event but due to limited volunteers along with COVID and considerations of access for all students, we had to make the difficult decision to focus on the Tricks and Treats event where all Robinson students will be able to join in the fun. If you love this event, be on the look-out next year for Trunk or Treat planning opportunities!

Students should bring a costume in a bag with their name on it. Here are some guidelines:

  1. NO Scary masks- this scares the younger kiddos
  2. NO face paint- kids will not have time to do this
  3. Kids must be able to put their costumes on independently
  4. Do NOT wear your costume to school

Does your family not celebrate Halloween?

We know that not all families celebrate Halloween and may not want their child dressing up and doing all of the Halloween things. We have many opportunities for these students to still participate in our school wide event on the 29th without having them dress up and do the PTO activities. We have needs for a DJ, photographers, candy bag distributor, kindergarten helper, set up assistant, and greeter. Please email Angeline if you would like your child to not dress up and she will get with the child to see what they would like to do to still be a part of the festivities.
