BHS Update
Throughout our remote learning time we have been listening to feedback from students, parents, and teachers and adjusting our practice as needed.
Recently, the BHS team has been discussing how to best support students at the high school as the year comes to an end.
This week we decided it would benefit all students if June 5th was the last day for teachers to post new assignments. This will allow the students from June 8 - June 15 to pass in any missing assignments or to make corrections on assignments that need more work in order to receive full credit. All assignments must be turned in by June 15th.
Teachers will still be holding Google Meet Class sessions at the designated times and will be working with students to answer questions and support their learning.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your patience and support during this time.
Sincerely,
Megan Lafayette

School Nutrition Update
Dear Bellingham Parents, Families and Community,
We first want to say that we miss you and hope you are well! Our District is happy to continue providing meals to ALL children 18 and under at absolutely no cost to you. You can pick up 2 breakfasts and lunches on Mondays, 2 breakfasts and lunches on Wednesdays and 3 breakfasts and lunches on Fridays per district student. This will allow you to have 7 of each meal to cover the entire week! Please see the attached flyer with the most current schedule.
Here are some reasons you should take advantage of the free meals being offered:
It’s comforting and familiar to your kids to have food from school
It extends your food budget and saves you time from prepping meals
You are helping the program stay financially afloat as the USDA is covering the costs of these meals during school closures
Breakfast will continue to be an assortment of muffin/bagel/danish/cereal with a fruit/juice cup included, while daily lunch options will be a variety of delicious and nutritious options! As a gentle reminder: Some meals will be perishable and need to be refrigerated, so it is highly recommended that you are able to store or consume quickly after receiving. We also offer some heat and serve pre-cooked meals with easy instructions (including but not limited to chicken nuggets/patty sandwiches, burgers, etc.).
Drive through service is available at the bus loop entrance of Bellingham Memorial School (130 Blackstone Street) from 11:30 am- 1:00 pm. Students are not required to be present at pick up and in order to practice social distancing, you just grab and go directly from your car. We have recently partnered with the YMCA to hand out the meals provided by our amazing and hard-working team. As a “bonus”, the Y is providing a grocery bag of food supplies on Fridays!
You can visit our District website School Nutrition page or check out our Program Facebook page (Bellingham Public Schools Nutrition and Wellness) for the most up to date information and feel free to contact our office if you have any questions. We hope that this will continue to help provide some ease during this time! While we miss seeing your students in the cafeteria, we wish you and your family all the best and look forward to seeing them soon!
With warmest regards,
Liz Bell

Message From Op Grad
Dear parents of seniors,
Even in the face of a pandemic, preparations are ongoing for Operation Graduation to be held -- hopefully -- later this summer for our very deserving seniors.
We are still collecting photos for the Senior Class of 2020 Slideshow which is shown at Op-Grad, and have extended the submission deadline to June 7 in order to include next week's "prom" photo-op, as well as a possible graduate car parade next month. All photos MUST be emailed to bhs2020slideshow@gmail.com in order to be used in the slideshow.
As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking and we are fortunate to have parents who are willing to work on this. However, we cannot do this without photos supplied by you!!! We need a BABY picture of your child, in addition to photos from their elementary and middle school years, and any high school events you may have. Please include the student's name, the event, the year, and if possible, any other students who are in the photos.
FAQ's:
- An auto reply will be sent to you upon receipt of your emailed submission to bhs2020slideshow@gmail.com. This is your confirmation that your email to the Bellingham High School Class of 2020 slideshow email box has been received. Please rest assured that if you send more photos from the same email address, they will have been received.
- The goal is to have a fair representation of ALL students, which is solely dependent on photos submitted. Please share this info with other parents/guardians of students of the Class of 2020. Students are encouraged to email photos, too!
- Slideshow will include baby pictures, elementary and middle school (dances, nature's classroom, pumpkin chunkin, step-up days, science fairs, class trips, candids, etc.), as well as high school photos -- a bulk of the slideshow will be dedicated to high school years (all athletic events, dances, powder puff, band concerts, spirit/theme weeks, pep rallies, class trips, awards nights, etc.
- There is no guarantee that all submissions will be used. Every effort will be made to avoid duplicate photos.
Any questions may be sent to the photo email. Thank you for helping making this a wonderful slideshow and a night to remember for our students.
Thank you for your cooperation.
