Columbia Crest Middle School!
News and Events for January 2023
A different start!
We know it is going to be a very different journey for 2023 with Mr Hehemann gone to a new school. He will be sorely missed by all of us! We know he will do well wherever he goes! We all love him because he works hard, tries to have fun at all times, shares a positive attitude, and he cares about all of us! We know these things because we watched what he did and how he worked each day! We are so grateful for all he shared, and taught us! We know all of you are thankful too!
Now we have the opportunity to show Mr Hehemann, our families and our community something about ourselves! We can show them that we learned from him! We can show them we learned how to work hard in school even when it's difficult. We will show how we can still have fun learning as we come together at school each day! We will encourage each other and pick each other up when we are having a tough time.
The best thing we can do for ourselves and Mr Hehemann is make each day the very best it can be! We can, and will SUCCEED!
We have so many positive things happening! Let's keep our eyes open and watch for all things that make us joyful!
We believe in each and every one of you! We truly CARE about each and every one of you!
We (and this means all of us) will make this the BEST year ever!

Meet The Teacher
Dear Middle School Students & Families,
I am so excited to join the CCA team! As a new year has come I have revisited my life motto, "high expectations, high love, high results." Not only does this theory apply to myself, but it rings true in my teaching. Your children are my top priority. I want them to succeed and find joy in learning. I will work alongside you to be their biggest advocate. I will always cheer them on, helping them and expecting them to rise to occasion. This means I will work alongside them to help them reach this point, I will not give up on your child. This first week will be focused on building relationships (high love) , getting to know each other, and goal setting for the rest of the school year (high expectations). I know each MS student is ready to learn and accomplish great things this year!
I am excited to share that we will be also having a new elective, Global Humanities and Art. The class will send us around the world with fun activities, exploration, and deep learning. I am elated to meet and see all of you tomorrow! For parents, I would love to meet each of you. I will be hosting a meet and greet after school on Thursday. If you cannot make it and would like to meet, please let me know and send me an email at a.litzenberger@eatonville.wednet.edu.
Middle School Science!
In science we are learning about: "Space! The final Frontier!" and if you come tell me where that little quote came from, I will give you a prize!
Before the holiday break, we learned the phases of the moon and its orbit around the earth. We discovered how many moons old we are, and the distance we've traveled around the sun in our lifetimes. We learned about the Earth's orbit around the sun and scale techniques to see the differing sizes of the planets, moons, suns and universe. We even hypothesized about water bears living on the moon and so much more!
Coming up? lunar tides, gravity and more explorations of the planets! SO EXCITING!
We are going to have a blast!
If you need to reach me, please call me at school or email: s.struck@eatonville.wednet.edu
