Categorized Pyroclastic Materials
Volcanic Ash
Volcanic ash is more than just the type of ash you would find after a fire. Though similar in look once the ash has settled onto the ground or objects. Volcanic ash is actually small bits or pieces of glass and pulverized rock that is created when a volcano erupts. The ash that lands on the ground is also called ashfall.
Lapilli
Lapilli is large pyroclastic particles that are less than 64 mm in diameters. In Latin lapilli means "little stones". They generally fall near the vent.
Blocky Lava
Blocky lava is volcanic lava occurring as rough-surfaced jagged blocks. Some of these rocks can be up to the size of a house. Amazing right?
