A most spectacular tragedy
"The Donner Party"
The Donner Party was led by two brothers named Jacob and George Donner in 1846. People were headed to California from Springfield, Illinois when they decided to take a shortcut through the Wasatch Mountains. They were warned ahead of time by Hastings, but still proceeded with the plan. Unfortunately their shortcut was not a success. They were stranded there for many days due to the heavy snowfalls that blocked the high mountains with very minimum food to feed everyone. Fortunately, Seven survived while trying to alert the community. A series of four rescue parties were launched to their location and they were able to save almost half of the people apart of the party, while the rest of the half starved to death.
Just $0.10 and you can buy a whole bag of flour that they could've used back then!
Flour back then could've helped The Donner Party tremendously. They didn't have anything at all so flour could have helped them out. Just for $0.10 you can help out a great cause.
