Elementary Delta
Wow! This semester is really flying by and we are halfway through the second quarter! I really enjoyed getting to meet each of you at Parent-Teacher Conferences and truly love getting to work with your kids. As always, please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions or concerns.
*Reminder: If your child has not brought a package of notecards to school yet, we will need them for the remainder of the semester. Thank you!
2nd and 3rd Grade
Siegrist Delta students have just started a new Exploratory Unit - Insect Island! The students have enjoyed nature journaling and classifying species of bugs. They are continuing to work on our Independent Study Units and will finish with "fact finding" before the Christmas Break. These facts will be used for their Research Paper next semester. Students have been working very hard at Noetic Challenge Math and I have seen huge improvements in their perseverance.
4th and 5th Grade
Paxton Delta students are diligently researching for their Independent Study Unit. I have been so impressed with the enthusiasm they have for their projects. They are continuing to show progress in their Noetic Challenge Math assessments and are tracking their success through Journaling and self-reflection. Fourth grade will soon be starting their Exploratory Unit on famous gifted people. They will learn about giftedness and will create a portfolio on their chosen person. Fifth grade will be starting Hogwart's Academy when we return after Christmas Break and will discover the science behind "magic."
Battle of the Brains
Fourth and fifth grade Delta students just wrapped up their Battle of the Brains competition. Students collaborated with their group to develop an outdoor exhibit for Science City, a written proposal, a 3-dimensional model, and a commercial. We competed against 520 other teams in the Kansas City area. Although we didn't win this year, they worked hard and designed some amazing exhibits! I am so proud of them!
